This is probably the closest low carb alternative to pizza. This is one of the most popular recipes ever from the website lowcarber.org.
Of course, you can use any pizza topping you prefer, the mushrooms and sauce is just a suggestion.
- 120 gr Philadelphia cheese, room temperature
- 4 large eggs
- 80 ml double cream
- 130 gr parmesan cheese, grated
- 1 tbsp chives, chopped
- 1 garlic clove, pressed
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- 250 gr mozzarella, grated
- 120 ml tomato sauce (passata)
- 150 gr mushrooms, sliced and panfried
- 2 garlic sausages, skin removed, crumbled and fried
Preheat the oven at 180 °C. Grease a 32 x 22 cm oven dish.’
In a food processor, mix together Philadelphia cheese and eggs. Add cream, 30 gr grated parmesan, chives and oregano. Blend to a smooth batter.
Spread the remaining 100 gr parmesan and half of the mozzarella cheese to cover the bottom of the oven dish. Pour over the egg mixture, and bake in the oven for 30 minutes.
When the pizza “crust” has cooled off a few minutes, spread over the tomato sauce. Spread the fried mushrooms and sausage over the crust, and top with the remaining grated mozzarella cheese.
Turn on the oven grill, and grill the pizza appr 15 cm below the grill until golden brown the cheese bubbling. Let the pizza cool off for a few minutes before cutting.
